Christmas Windows in Alnwick
If you visit Alnwick in December you are going to see some wonderful Christmas windows lighting up the town.


Here in Alnwick we are lucky to have a number of independent shops, pubs and restaurants that make Christmas shopping such a pleasure for residents and visitors alike.
With the challenges that have faced us all over the last 18 months it’s more important than ever to try and #ShopLocal to ensure small businesses survive and thrive.
When you come to Alnwick this month be sure to take a walk around the centre of town and up and down the smaller side streets. That way you will discover the very Best of Alnwick shopping and of course, get that festive feeling from all the Christmas lights and displays.
Now let’s show you a few examples of businesses who have really made our historic town of Alnwick, Northumberland a great place to come and shop for Christmas.
1. Turnbull’s Butchers
The butcher of choice for so many here, Turnbull’s of Alnwick is a sixth generation, award winning family butchers, established in 1880 by Roger Turnbull. If you’re looking for local beef & lamb for your Christmas table you have come to the right place! Turnbull’s also sells poultry, pork, fresh fruit & veggies as well as a large selection of deli products too.

2. The Bonny Hoose Company
The Bonny Hoose Company is an independent home interiors store based in the centre of Alnwick specialising in home accessories and gifts (perfect for your Christmas shopping list). They are also stockists of the fabulous Frenchic paint as well as Ashleigh & Burwood scents and locally made (support local!) Dovecote candles.

3. Ruby Tuesday
Ruby Tuesday is a gift shop located on the charming street of Narrowgate in Alnwick. They have a wonderfully curated collection of lifestyle, homeware, gifts & more. You will find exclusive design brands that have been carefully selected to ensure you find unique gifts for those you love.

4. Barter Books
Follow the star to Barter Books! There are bookshops and then there’s Barter Books, an internationally known treasure for reading addicts everywhere. If you’re Christmas shopping for the book lover in your life be sure to stop here for great second hand bargains as well as very rare and hard to find literary gems.

5. Dirty Bottles Pub
Once you’ve got everything on your list head down to the Dirty Bottles pub for a drink and something delicious to eat. A favourite of Alnwick locals, the pub has been open for over two centuries and the building is thought to have been constructed in the 1600’s. Oh and if the shopping has worn you out they recently renovated and restored four individually designed luxury king size bedrooms all with en-suite!
